Daniel Benoit, after making his way to a bus stop on the corner of Lee Highway and Vance Road, sat on a green wooden bench, waiting to catch a ride and get a bite to eat.

"I've been walking a lot. It's comfortable to sit down for a while," Benoit, 66 and a Chattanoogan since 1989, said in an interview Friday.

The green bench is among six others scattered at bus stops throughout the Brainerd area for a total of eight — another one is at a bus stop on M.L. King Boulevard in front of Whiteside Park.
